Melissa’s Picks

Comedy Series

Wither out thou, Parks and Rec? In its absence, I will select 30 Rock‘s final season, as Tina Fey is also a badass bitch.

Lead Actress in a Comedy Series

Laura Dern Enlightened 1

Just thinking about now-cancelled Enlightened makes me cry, and Laura Dern deserves to be recognized.

Lead Actor in a Comedy Series

Louis CK. I will mention again that Fios is not giving me FXX with my cable plan. I am writing them every day in protest. I need my Louie!

Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series

Amy Veep 1

Why does Jane Lynch keep getting nominated? Anyway, this award should go to Anna Chlumsky for playing foul-mouthed Amy, my favorite character on Veep.

Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series

Adam Driver is so sweet and yet so weird as Adam on Girls. He was the first character people connected with and he’s done a great job of trying to set self-centered Hannah straight.

Drama Series

Game of Thrones is not just a genre show with lots of boobs!

Lead Actress in a Drama Series

Kerry Washington Scandal gif

I should probably pick Elisabeth Moss as Peggy Olson is my hero but I want Kerry Washington to win something other than my best dressed.

Lead Actor in a Drama Series

Is it bad that I don’t care about this category? I like most of these people except Kevin Spacey annoys me and Jeff Daniels is on The Newsroom. Hugh Bonneville would probably give a good speech!

Supporting Actress in a Drama Series

Anna Gunn BB

SO TOUGH. One one hand, I think Emilia Clarke, GoT’s slave liberator, should win, but I would also like to see Anna Gunn win for Breaking Bad as a fuck you to all the Skyler haters.

Supporting Actor in a Drama Series

I love every single one of these nominees SO HARD. In that case, I will highlight Jonathan Banks, who plays sassy hitman Mike on Breaking Bad. In season 5, he was forced to join forces with Walt and Jesse and occasionally provided some much-needed comic relief.

TV Miniseries or Movie

Holly Hunter gif

I will save Behind the Candelabra for tomorrow’s prediction post, because I really want Top of the Lake to win. I haven’t seen anything like it on TV and its feminist message and strong female characters are very rare.

Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie Series

Elisabeth Moss, though her accent was wobbly, was fantastic in Top of the Lake as a smarty pants investigator with secrets.

Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie Series

MATT DAMON!! When you’re 40 and semi-believable as a 20-year-old you should win all the awards.

Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie Series

Sarah Paulson
I haven’t seen any of these so SLLS fave Sarah Paulson it is! Thank you for providing this amazing gif to the world.

Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie Series

Peter Mullan is great in Top of the Lake, but who doesn’t want to see Spock win for American Horror Story: Asylum? I think Zachary Quinto is adorable and even though I will never watch AHS, I have thought about it many times.

Katie’s Picks

Comedy Series

30Rock_Liz

This should be Parks and Recreation but instead it will have to go to 30 Rock‘s swan song.

Lead Actress in a Comedy Series

AMY POEHLER, AMY POEHLER, AMY POEHLER!

Lead Actor in a Comedy Series

ArrestedDevelopement_MichaelandGOB

Jason Bateman for allowing Michael Bluth to finally become the self-centered asshole we always knew was lurking under the surface. I loved season 4 of Arrested Development, love love loved it and my favorite part was Michael descending more and more into the madness of being a Bluth.

Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series

Anna Chlumsky is magical on Veep (well everyone is magical on Veep but she is AWESOME).

Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series

Tony Hale on Veep is also AMAZING! He is pretty much amazing in everything. BUSTER BLUTH is my favorite or is it GOB. Wait, why wasn’t Gob nominated?

Drama Series

JonandYgritte

Game of Thrones might just become one of my favorite TV shows of all time. I love everything about that show except for all the boobs, come on GoT take a page from True Blood and show more PEEN!

Lead Actress in a Drama Series

Connie Britton for all the times she wasn’t nominated and or lost as Tami Taylor! Tami Taylor is one of my all time favorite women ever written for TV. After Britton I want Elisabeth Moss but for the season she quit SCDP and NOT for this past season (this season just wasn’t that good for Peggy).

Lead Actor in a Drama Series

DonDraperLovesPuppies

Jon Hamm is AMAZING on Mad Men and has never won. He was simply the best this season.

Supporting Actress in a Drama Series

My favorite female characters on GoT are the badasses AKA Arya, Ygritte and Brienne and none of them are nominated even though I thought that Brienne and Jamie had the best story-line last season. Dany is actually my least favorite lady (though I still like her), Joan Harris didn’t have the greatest of seasons this year, I always love Maggie Smith and I don’t watch the other shows. I guess I’m picking Maggie Smith.

Supporting Actor in a Drama Series

Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) FTW, always and forever.

TV Miniseries or Movie

Top of the Lake and NOT because it is the only one I have seen but because it is was the best thing!

Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie Series

Elisabeth Moss is wonderful in Top of the Lake and I loved it more than anything I have watched this year even more than Parks and Recreation.

Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie Series

Benedict Cumberbatch _ParadesEnd

Benedict Cumberbatch because his performance in Parade’s End was the only one I saw.

Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie Series

Sarah Paulson because we love her but I don’t watch that show the commercials creep me out. I am mildly curious about American Horror Story: Coven but that’s cause I heart Patti Lupone.

Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie Series

Peter Mullan, Top of the Lake hands fucking down.
