Smart ladies love movie trailers, the week in trailers, August 19, 2013

Movie Trailer Mondays

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Shaun of the Dead

World's End

Biggest movie coming out this week

The World’s End

This movie looks amazing. I love that Nick Frost is playing the straight man to Simon Pegg’s LOON (way to shake things up). I will also appreciate Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine and Eddie Marsden. [I’m rewatching Spaced in order to get myself excited for this… as if that was possible! My most anticipated movie of the summer! -M]

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

How I live Now, November 8, 2013

Saoirse Ronan is full on Hanna-mode in this movie about what happens after World War III breaks out. I love Saoirse Ronan so much and I love her in Hanna and Byzantium (I also appreciated her trying to make The Host better than it should have been). [This is probably too depressing for me (Katie you will have to tell me if it has a good ending) but I love Saoirse Ronan too! There are so many great young actors now. -M]

The Monuments Men, December 18, 2013

Bill Murray, Matt Damon, John Goodman, Bob Balaban (BOB BALABAN), Cate Blanchett and George Clooney (he directed) save art during WWII. AGAIN BOB BALABAN IN THE ARMY! That really should be enough all the other people are just amazing perks. [As you know, George Clooney is one of my favorite directors. This trailer makes me cry with joy. -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

Fading Gigolo, TBA 2013

Woody Allen as John Turturro’s pimp. I will watch the shit out of this when it’s on Netflix. [I like the idea of lots of actresses over 40 getting work. I am sure this will offend my sensitive feminist sensibilities but I will laugh at it in secret. -M]

Her, December 18, 2013

Have I written about how Joaquin Phoenix creeps me out and when I started this trailer I thought it was a creepy thriller and then it was a Spike Jonze film so I was confused because the music said comedy. I am scared of the mustache but this looks FUN? I love everyone else in this (except scarjo’s voice). I am muddled. I did like Walk the Line so I can enjoy Joaquin sometimes. I just have to get over the fact that he looks like a serial killer to me (that mockumentary did not help the situation). [Her looks amazing and weird and there’s Rooney Mara!! Plus starting a sentence with “her” is really fun. Ever since Joaquin did that mockumentary thing I am ALL IN on him.-M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa, October 25, 2013

I will never ever see this but I did kind of laugh at the Toddlers and Tiaras stunt –I’m sorry. [I laughed SO HARD at that part. It is worth watching the two minute trailer. I don’t like how scripted this is… like there’s some kind of story? JUST STUNTS, PLS. And Johnny Knoxville in old man makeup makes me uncomfortable. -M]
