Movie Trailer Mondays

thatawkwardmoment1 thatawkwardmoment2

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Notable movies coming out this week

That Awkward Moment

This movie looks like it is terribly sexist and yet I LOVE all three of the male leads. I will solve this problem by waiting until I can watch and enjoy this movie in the sanctity of my own home and then lie and tell people I hated it. [I am with you on that. I would probably do best at home where I can yell at the sexism yet be completely charmed by Michael B. Jordan. -M]

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

The Lunchbox, February 28, 2014

I love small movies like this. This movie looks so lovely and heartwarming but not twee or trite. Irrfan Khan is an amazing actor, I hope this comes to DC! [This will play here for a week but I won’t even notice because I’m too busy. I like this trailer and I actually want to see this movie! Good find, Katie! -M]

Tracks, TBA 2014

I’m not sure why I am so psyched about this tiny movie about a woman who decides to walk across Australia with four camels and a dog but it looks kind of awesome. Maybe because I will get to see Adam Driver in something since I don’t watch Girls. [PJ does not enjoy Girls but he does pay attention every time Adam Driver is on screen. That dude is mesmerizing. I like the idea of this film but it will probably make me cry and feel things and examine my life and maybe I’m not ready for that. -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

Adult World, February 14, 2014

I am on the fence about Emma Roberts but this looks kind of cute OR it’s the same old “I need to grow up” shit indie directors make movies about all the time. [I like that it’s about a female writer! I don’t know how I feel about Emma Roberts either but her acting is really natural here and it’s refreshing. -M]

Blood Ties, March 21, 2014

One of our top 15 European actors Guillaume Canet directed this 70s set cop/criminal family drama starring Billy Crudup and Clive Owen. [YAY NOAH EMMERICH! There are three amazing women in this film–Mila Kunis, Zoe Saldana and Marion Cotillard–and they are barely shown in this trailer. Also James Caan is the worst. -M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

Vampire Academy,  February 7, 2014

I will not spend money on this but I will probably enjoy it at two AM on pay cable. It might actually be campy fun. [Directed by Mark Waters, who did Mean Girls and Katie’s favorite movie Just Like Heaven, and it has that fun high school thing going on. I don’t hate it. Lots of women! -M]
