Movie Trailer Mondays
Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!
Biggest movie coming out this week
The Croods, March 22, 2013
The biggest movie coming out this week is either Olympus Has Fallen which I already covered OR The Croods an animated family film starring the vocal talents of Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, and Nicolas Cage. Like all animated films I will watch this a million times when it comes to HBO. I also find the shoe thing in the trailer both cute and mildly offensive. [They sang a song from this on Idol this week and it was terrible. Is this is a cartoon? PASS. -M]
Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater
Iron Man 3, May 3, 2013
The problem with Iron Man 2 was that Tony Stark was to smug. I mean, Stark is supposed to be smug, but in Iron Man 2 he was an asshole. It appears that in Iron Man 3 he is going to be both smug and self-aware which I think is a GOOD thing. Also it kind of looks like they might be making Pepper Pott’s (Gwyneth Paltrow) Rescue in this film which would be AWESOME! I only wish that Mark Ruffalo was in this too, as Bruce Banner– I loved their relationship in The Avengers.
Frances Ha, May 17th, 2013
I love Greta Gerwig! I will gladly watch her in anything she is in. Recently I watched her in Lola Versus with Joel Kinnaman (hot Swede, Robocop, and the reason to subject yourself to watching The Killing) it was great. So I am super excited about Frances Ha. I also learned in researching this film that Noah Baumbach who co-wrote this movie with Gerwig and directed it seems to have left his wife Jennifer Jason Leigh for Gerwig, I’m not sure how I feel about this but as a pop-culture gossip I felt honor bound to report it. [WHAT???? I am kind of devastated by this but I love Greta Gerwig so much I guess it’s ok. I have the Damsels in Distress postcard in my office and it always makes me smile. -M]
I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon
Leonie, March 22, 2013 in select theaters AKA, NYC and LA
This movie looks so pretty but beyond that it sent me down a Wikipedia hole researching Leonie Gilmour and her son Isamu Noguchi which is fascinating.
What Maisie Knew, TBA 2013
Alexander Skarsgård, Julianne Moore and Steve Coogan fight over an adorable child. FUN! I really wish that Skarsgård would wear a belt in most of these scenes but it’s nice to see him in a movie that’s completely different from True Blood. [This looks like a Lifetime movie. EWW. -M]
You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater
Black Rock, May 17th, 2013
I like to support female directors and I love Katie Asleton but this movie looks scary as fuck. [I love her directing work but I will not watch this. I wish her first “big movie” was something I could see in the theater without peeing myself an/or hiding behind my hair. -M]
