Smart ladies love movies, the week in trailers, May 19, 2013

Movie Trailer Mondays

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Notable movies coming out this week

X Men: Days of Future Past

I’m pretty sure I’m going to go see this Friday morning as I have loved all of the other X Men movies except for X Men: The Last Stand which basically made a mockery of Jean Grey and The Phoenix! ALSO I finally broke down and bought the comic so I’m double excited. [I feel like the plot of this will be very confusing to me.  Also I am SO SICK of this song in trailers. -M]

Filth, is out onDemand and for Rent

If you don’t get enough James McAvoy after watching X Men: Days of Future Past you can go home and rent Filth based on the Irvine Welsh novel of the same name! The trailer for this movie starts off very serious and then it gets darkly funny like all good Irvine Welsh adaptations. [Oh man I love stylized British movies like this! They remind me of high school. -M]

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

Interstellar, November 7, 2014

The McConaissance continues with Interstellar which finds Matthew McConaughey finding us a new world with the help of Anne Hathaway. [Man I am SO PISSED he’s entering in the Emmy Drama category which will rob Jon Hamm and Matthew Rhys AGAIN. I find solace in the fact that Fargo will win all the miniseries awards. Also I will probably not see this because spacesuits make me claustrophobic. -M]

Mr. Turner, December 19, 2014

Mike Leigh and Timothy Spall bring us the J. M. W. Turner biopic we didn’t know we needed until now! I will pretty much watch any movie Mike Leigh films (except for Vera Drake because I can’t stand to watch Imelda Staunton sad). [Hey I know who he is from Antiques Roadshow! Now that I have more time I want to spend my summer watching charming British movies that show the countryside. I wish this was out now. -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

And So It Goes, July 11, 2014

If they hadn’t told me this was a Rob Reiner film I would have thought it was a Nancy Meyers movie –that is NOT a compliment. [But there’s not enough slow dreamy house porn for it to be Nancy Myers! Michael Douglas plays a delightful asshole. Otherwise I feel like I have seen this before. I don’t think I am the target demographic though. -M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

Good People, July 25, 2014

This reminds me a lot of the Danny Boyle classic Shallow Grave but not in a good way. [This feels too grown up for Franco. But it’s exactly where Kate Hudson should be, ugh. -M]
