Movie Trailer Monday

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Notable movies coming out this weekend

Hot Pursuit

This movie might be worth it just for Reese Witherspoon trying to be Justin Beiber. I seriously can’t wait for it to come on cable. [I would probably not pay for this either, but I will be watching it repeatedly on HBO, like Admission, The Great Gatsby, and The Heat. -M]

Ride, is out onDemand and for Rent

It hasn’t been that long since we covered this movie but it was the least offensive VOD movie out this week AND it was written and directed by Helen Hunt. [Support movies written and directed by women!!! Let’s all welcome Helen back to our hearts by watching this. -M]

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

Tomorrowland, May 22, 2015

With every trailer I get more and more excited for this movie. I really hope it does well because I would love to see more original summer movies and less sequels. The world does NOT need anymore Spiderman movies. [I think there have been like four trailers for this, including the teaser. I don’t know how much I like that young actress yet, but I like the way this campaign has been handled–more and more revealed each time but never enough to know what the fuck is going on. -M]

Gemma Bovery, May 29, 2015

Lovely French film starring the effervescent Gemma Arterton, DONE! [AHHHHH this is like my perfect summer movie. I love uptight English women and pretty countryside and quirky townspeople. Also my cat’s name is Gemma so I like to see this name in pop culture (she was named after Katey Sagal’s character in SOA, duh). -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

Barely Lethal, TBA

This movie is exactly the type of teen film I like to watch late at night. That being said I am ridiculously excited that Vampire Academy is finally coming to pay cable –THANKS SHOWTIME! Also Hailee Steinfeld and Sofie Turner look like they are having a blast. [Oh I will have to watch VA soon! This looks so much fun! AND the character is from Regina! I love to say Regina, Saskatchewan.  I’m so happy that it looks like Twilight and Hunger Games clones are on their way out and we can get back to the dumb, silly, teen comedies that we enjoyed in the late 90s! -M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

The Visit, September 11, 2015

Kathryn Hahn you deserve so much more than M. Night Shyamalan. Also how dare Shyamalan ruin childrens trips to see their grandparents –GRANDPARENTS ARE SACRED SHYAMALAN! [Kathryn Hahn, this is not the way to become famous, even though you totally deserve it and are completely wonderful. While I will not see this because I think Shyamalan is a hack, the trailer makes me really want a farm. -M]
