Smart ladies love movies, this week in trailers, April 11, 2016

Movie Trailer Monday

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Notable movies coming out this weekend

I keep hoping we get the resurgence of Kevin Costner but I’m not certain this movie is going to do the trick, it’s more of a Liam Neeson-type flick. Costner needs to make another baseball movie. [I feel like Kevin Costner has never really left us. We need to miss him. There are so many older white dues in this movie. SNOOOOOOOZE. -M]

Kill Your Friends, is out onDemand and for Rent

This movie feels like American Psycho had a baby with Trainspotting, I’m not sure that is a good thing nor am I sure it’s worth 7 bucks. [You know I love all pop culture about music. AND James Corden. But this seems very dude-centric (though younger than Criminal) and I prefer my dollars to support diverse, smaller movies. This is a cable one for sure. -M]

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, November 18, 2016

This movie is starting to look more fun and interesting. I’m super excited about Dan Fogler and Katherine Waterston. [Should I read this book? I read all the Potter ones but I think by the time this came out, I was too old. The most important thing to note about this movie is that Ron Perlman, national treasure, is in it. -M]

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, December 16, 2016

This movie looks so good that I’m getting super exited about a new Star Wars movie every Christmas (unless they hire that Ansel kid for the Han Solo movie). [I’m still holding out hope for Tony from Brooklyn. He would be the best Han Solo. Anyway, I have watched this trailer about a dozen times and it keeps getting more thrilling. I have seen so many “Who is Felicity Jones?” stories this week, which is hilarious, because she was nominated for an Oscar for a movie that every woman over 50 saw. Theory of Everything viewers must not overlap too much with Star Wars nerds. -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

Search Party, May 13, 2016

This movie is here for Melissa and her love of TJ Miller. [I do love him so much. And Thomas Middleditch. Despite this totally being a Hangover ripoff–though I love seeing household appliances become bongs–I will watch it on HBO every week. -M]

Swiss Army Man, July 1, 2016

It is only because of my love for Paul and Dan that this is not in “the Worst” category, this trailer makes me realize why this move was so talked about at Sundance it is definitely weird. [The fact that I know this as “the farting Daniel Radcliffe corpse movie” and not “Swiss Army Man” is not a good sign.  I like magical realism and Paul Dano so that may convince me to watch it. -M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

The Do Over, May 27, 2016

While we are trying to #StopGarryMarshall we should just go ahead and #StopAdamSandler as well for the good of society. [Is this a sequel to a Netflix movie that NO ONE SAW? Why does this exist? I will admit to not getting far in the trailer but I also don’t give a shit. -M]
