Movie Trailer Monday

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Notable movies coming out this weekend

Ex Machina

This movie continues to look creepy but I appreciate how the makers of the hot robot (who may or may not be a hot homicidal robot) movie ALSO gave us two really hot dudes to ogle as well –hello there Mr. Isaac (the beard) and Mr. Gleeson (the ginger). ALSO why does the hot robot have to be female? Why are all of the homicidal male robot movies NOT hot robots? [I want to live in a house on the water that is all windows with Oscar Isaac. Except not with a scary robot that is also Alicia Vikander. I hope she kills everyone because the sexual robots thing really freaks me out. -M]

Playing It Cool, is out onDemand and for Rent

Yes, this looks like every other rom-com Hollywood makes BUT the supporting cast looks PHENOMENAL AND we here at SLLS LOVE us some Chris Evans. [I will see Chris Evans in anything, especially a generic rom com with a killer supporting cast. Michelle Monaghan’s character on imdb is named “Her,” which I totally hate. GIVE THE WOMAN A FUCKING NAME. There is no need to ever see this on the big screen so TV is the perfect medium. -M]

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

Spy, June 5, 2015

This trailer has more STATHAM and sadly more cat lady jokes which I could just do without. ALSO more ROSE BYRNE as a baddie –LOVE. [I wish Melissa McCarthy would stop playing such sad sacks (though I LOVE her array of wigs). Rose Byrne is a joy in everything–seriously, Neighbors is on HBO, dear readers–and, as long as this is at least as good as Tammy (which is to say, horrible), I will probably pay money for it due to Paul Feig and Melissa McCarthy’s other projects together. -M]

Masterminds, August 7, 2015

This movie looks silly and weird and oddly adorable. ALSO Zach Galifianakis’ sho-low is EPIC and amazing. [I love the summer, because when else would I be able to see ten dumbass comedies in three months? Jared Hess directed Napoleon Dynamite, a movie I hate, but also Nacho Libre, which I secretly love. Adding to summer movie list! -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

Survivor, May 29, 2015

OOOOOOO….it’s like lady Bourne. This is sadly the only joke I can make about this movie, which I will watch a lot because I am a sucker for thrillers with Pierce Brosnan –LONG LIVE REMINGTON STEELE. [Oh noooo they destroyed all that pretty colored glass. Katie, you better save this for a weekend I visit, where it can be our palate cleanser after something with Jai Courtney. Can the name be changed to something that is NOT a long-running reality TV show? -M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

The Gift, July 31, 2015

Ummmmm…Jason Bateman what on earth is this piece of creepy crap? I expect this from Rebecca Hall since she was in Transcendence. [Man, you really hated Transcendence! I still love Rebecca Hall (The Town is one of my favorite HBO movies) because she has not been ruined for me. UNTIL NOW. The Gift is such a wholly unoriginal title too. UGH NO. -M]
