Smart ladies love movies, this week in trailers, August 31, 2015

Movie Trailer Monday

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Notable movies coming out this weekend

Dirty Weekend

Alice Eve and Matthew Broderick are so likable that I am kind of excited about this movie where you just spend a day with them wandering around a city while they are away for a business trip. [It seems entertaining? Something about it bothers me. -M]

Turbo Kid, is out onDemand and for Rent

This movie wants so much to be eighties and for the most part it succeeds. Good job casting Michael Ironside. In fact my only criticism is that it might be trying too hard but that might just be the trailer. [Cute but also scary as shit! Totally Spielberg-esque. However, the girl has crazy eyes. -M]

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

All Things Must Pass, TBA

I’m just going to watch this trailer and cry over the end of Tower Music for the 800th time since its demise –THANKS COLIN HANKS! This documentary captures that brilliance of Tower and how much we all loved it. [Fun facts: Katie, our friend Bobby and I used to frequent Tower Records in college when we needed something to do. It was also part of my second date with my now-husband. I am REALLY excited about this documentary! Bonus DAVE GROHL. -M]

Youth, December 4, 2015

I love old dudes. They are adorable. I also love Jane Fonda and I have heard a lot of Oscar buzz regarding her performance in this film. It also look gorgeous. THANK GOD FOR OSCAR SEASON! [So many good movies this week! Also, Rachel Weisz uses her real accent, thank goodness, because her American accent annoys the shit out of me. -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

Love the Coopers, November 13, 2015

This looks like a sad retread of The Family Stone, a terrible movie with great actors. I have put it in this section because I love all of the actors and I don’t get a hockey terminal cancer vibe from this which is a definite WIN. [I love a holiday movie, and I will probably see this with my mom even though it looks pretty crappy. I feel like that’s how this movie will make 75% of its box office. -M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

Kill Your Friends, TBA 2015

This just looks like a sad imitation of American Psycho. If I were you I would watch either American Psycho OR if you want something in that vein but new and modern I suggest Mr. Robot which you can watch all episodes on USA. [I love ANYTHING about the music industry, especially Britpop, so I will watch this, regardless of trite storyline. Stars SLLS fave James Cordon, whose show is on too late for me to watch, and Daario Naharis #1, Ed Skrein. -M]
