Smart ladies love movies, this week in trailers, February 9, 2015

Movie Trailer Monday

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Notable movies coming out this weekend

Kingsman: The Secret Service

Some girls may choose to celebrate Valentine’s day with Jamie Dornan BUT I would rather spend it with Colin Firth. [I hope A Most Violent Year is still playing next weekend because I want to spent Valentine’s Day with Oscar Isaac! RAWR! -M]

We’ll Never Have Paris, is out onDemand and for Rent

Simon Helberg, Howard on The Big Bang Theory wrote this semi-autobiographical movie and then co-directed it with his wife Jocelyn Towne. He also co-stars in it with Melanie Lynskey who it finally seems like for the past couple of years has been having a moment. As a point of reference Lynskey starred opposite Kate Winslet in Peter Jackson’s creepy as hell Heavenly Creatures in 1994 (I was obsessed with that movie in High School, I have no idea why it is very frightening). [Ohhh so THIS is why he has been making the rounds lately (Comedy Bang Bang, The Soup). Good cast! Zachary Quinto and Desi from Girls! Remember when Maggie Grace was going to be a thing? -M]

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

Magic Mike XXL, July 1, 2015

Just drink it in kids, just drink it all in! (All the Magic Mike gifs are from Vulture and you can find even more here). [I am pissed the love interest is now being played by Amber Heard, whom I hate, instead of Cody Horn, who wears interesting things on the red carpet. I will see this, but silently stew in my hatred of Amber. I do enjoy how it seems Mike is committed to his dream of making furniture. -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

Lost River, TBA 2015

Ryan Gosling directed a movie with a lot of great actors and it’s apparently so weird OR so bad that it has a hard time securing American distribution and still doesn’t have a release date. Former Doctor Who Matt Smith seems especially super scary and creepy AND really HOT without that mop of hair he had on Who. [Not every actor should be a director. Christina Hendricks looks to be doing some fine, work though, and the cinematography is lovely. -M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

Poltergeist, July 24, 2015

Okay so when I was a kid I LOVED Poltergeist AND Poltergeist 2 BUT this movie looks super creepy and I expect better from Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Jared Harris. [I can’t even bring myself to watch this trailer, even though I am a giant fan of Sam Rockwell.  -M]
