Movie Trailer Monday

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Notable movies coming out this weekend

The Finest Hours

I have seen the trailer for this movie so many times and am SUPER excited that it’s finally coming out and I will no longer have to watch it. [I KNOW for a few months it played before every movie I saw in the theater. I’ve posted this before, but to read more about the Pendleton rescue mission, go here. Ruin it for yourself before you commit to watching Chris Pine SPOILER not drown. -M]

Mountain Men, is out onDemand and for Rent

I will not pay any money for this but I’ll watch late at night when I make questionable movie choices and then pass out half-way through. [I wanted this to be a new HBO favorite a la Let’s Be Cops, but it’s definitely not as funny and appears even more predictable. However, I am so excited that Chase Crawford is acting more. -M]

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

Tumbledown, February 5, 2016

Jason Sudeikis was so flipping charming in Sleeping With Other People so I am super excited about this even though I’ve been pissed at Rebecca Hall for convincing me I should watch Transcendence (I also blame you Paul Bettany). I hope this movie makes me like her again. [Rebecca Hall is in classic Melissa movie The Town, so I will love her always. This looks adorable, but I almost wish Jason Sudekis would ONLY star against Olivia Wilde because they are the best couple. I hope I didn’t curse them to break up. -M]

Keanu, April 29, 2016

Every time I watch this trailer I laugh-out-loud, nothing is funnier than a well placed George-Michael song and a cute kitten. ALSO NIA LONG whom I have loved since she was on Guiding Light as a teen. [Oh man, Will Forte put pictures of his costume on Instagram and I couldn’t stop laughing. I also love that damn cat so much. I think we might have found our Let’s Be Cops replacement! I miss Key & Peele the show already, though it seems like they will be working for the next twenty years on all the projects they have announced. -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, May 20, 2016

I enjoyed the original movie a lot when it was on HBO and I like that the sequel focuses on women not being ashamed to have sexy drunk fun so I might rent this when it comes to Amazon. [Even though this is almost exactly the same as the original, I sense another future HBO classic. I love the return of Zac Efron AND Ike Barinholtz!!!! And Rose Byrne’s hair. Why can’t mine ever do that? -M]

Suicide Squad, August 5, 2016

Everyone looks great and fun except Jared Leto who looks like a fool. This trailer also benefits greatly from Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Margot Robbie, Will Smith (AS A VILLAIN), and “Bohemian Rhapsody”. [Agreed. I was not at all interested in this movie when the promotion was all stupid Jared Leto, but the rest of the cast is pretty rad. Apparently Ike Barinholtz is in this too! I read the Wiki page, it helped explain who some of the characters are, as I am not a comics person. -M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

Term Life, March 1, 2016

This might be good BUT Vince Vaughn’s hair piece is so bad they actually reference it in the trailer but that doesn’t mean I want to watch it for an hour and a half. [So this is about life insurance? At least this is funny-ish, is based on a graphic novel, has a good cast  (Taraji P. Henson, Jon Favreau, Bill Paxton, Annabeth Gish, Jonathan Banks, Shea Whigham, & Mike Epps!!!! ALL OF THEM!!) and is not a horror movie. Though the guy who directed this ALSO directed the extremely disappointing Couples Retreat. -M]
