Smart ladies love movies, this week in trailers, July 14, 2015

Movie Trailer Monday

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Notable movies coming out this weekend

Ant Man

The more tv-spots I see for this the more excited I get. Paul Rudd is just so darn likable. [I am suffering from MAJOR superhero fatigue but there’s always room for more Paul Rudd in my life. -M]

What We Did on Our Holiday, is out onDemand and for Rent

I read a pretty good review of this and the one thing that made me intrigued is that the review said the kids were the best part because they acted like real kids and NOT precocious Hollywood kids. Also David Tenant with his real accent FTW. [Heartwarming British comedies forever and ever, always! Sometimes I forget Rosamund Pike is British and not American or Australian. -M]

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

Brooklyn, November 6, 2015

Saoirse Ronan is a terrific actress and she makes really interesting choices, this coming of age movie written by Nick Hornby looks charming. [PERIOD PIECE! Romance and pretty costumes and countryside! -M]

The Dressmaker, TBA 2015

This movie looks delightful. I love Judy Davis and it’s awesome that the 39-year-old Kate Winslet is being paired with the 25-year-old Liam Hemsworth. Winslet might also be a murderer. [ANOTHER period piece? And this one is AUSTRALIAN??! YAYYYY! Kate Winslet’s character is so glamorous! I love everything about this movie. -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

Goosebumps, October 16, 2015

This is only in this section because I love pre-teen movies especially when they are on pay cable (Small Soldiers is THE BEST) –I know it’s weird. [I also love coming of age stories–I obsessively watch The Way, Way Back. This one appears to have a great sense of humor, thanks to Jack Black and that kid from Super 8 & Trophy Wife (RIP). -M]

Suicide Squad, August 5, 2016

This looks so much better than stupid Batman Vs. Superman and therefore gets bumped up a level. In all honesty though I’m probably going to wait for this to be free before watching it. [I refuse to watch this ever. That stupid picture of Jared Leto has been ALL OVER THE INTERNET the past two days and I am so sick of looking at it. It’s like blogs and news sites don’t think we haven’t seen this photo a million times already. WE KNOW THIS MOVIE EXISTS OKAYYYYY. /rant -M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, March 25, 2016

This movie just looks so bleak and dour. I just wish that Zack Snyder wasn’t the guy to put Wonder Woman on the screen for the first time. ALSO Ben Affleck is NOT Batman, he is like Vince Vaughn, very bad when rendered humorless. And lastly Jesse Eisenberg doesn’t even look like he is in the same film. Henry Cavill, though, is super hot so look I found something positive to say. ALSO Laurence Fishburn looks foxy in a beard –TWO THINGS! [But Holly Hunter is in it too, because she narrated the beginning. I found something positive too! Even though the trailer is three minutes and appears exciting, I didn’t really pay attention until Jesse Eisenberg showed up. He is in a lot of crap, but I like him anyway. -M]
