Smart ladies love movies, this week in trailers, June 30, 2014

Movie Trailer Mondays

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Notable movies coming out this week

The more trailers I see for Tammy the more I want to see it. It’s so nice to see Susan Sarandon in another female empowerment road movie hopefully this one will have a more hopeful and peppy ending. [I am totally going to see this on Friday. I seriously do not care that Melissa McCarthy’s characters are so samey, as long as she keeps making me laugh. -M]

They Came Together, is out onDemand and for Rent

For $6.99 you can buy this adorable and most likely fucking hilarious rom-com satire starring Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd. I’m kind of sad I didn’t realize I could buy it this past weekend so instead I watched a ton of movies starring Kurt Russell and/or Goldie Hawn –fabulous but I could have fit in Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd if only I had known! [DID YOU WATCH OVERBOARD TOO? It was on HBO. I saw it in the theater and watched it this weekend and it was funnier than I remember. Also, RICHARD GILMORE!! -M]

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

Frank, August 15, 2014

This movie looks amazing but I am sad they have hidden Fassbender under that giant head (yes I get that’s the joke but I miss the face). I guess I’ll just have to stare at Scoot McNairy who appears to NOT be sad and Domhnall Gleeson who is so ginger I could die. [OMG I love it. Maggie Gyllenhall seems to be playing the character I would be if I was in a movie. Frank has Wilfred-esque vibes but I will probably watch it, unlike poor Wilfred, which sat on my DVR for like a year. -M]

Fury, November 14, 2014

I keep meaning to write a post on my love for the war movie and/or miniseries so I love this even if that celebrity asshole Shia Labeouf is in it. I also enjoy Brad Pitt –please don’t judge me, but I think he is a good actor. I do not, however, find him attractive. [I don’t think Brad Pitt is a good actor, but I do really enjoy the character he’s been playing lately. -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

Dracula Untold, October 17, 2014

I hate that I will most likely rent this once it comes on Amazon. I also hate that I think the trailer looks kind of awesome. I’m blaming this on my love for Charles Dance and not vampires. I hate vampires (says the girl who has seen all Twilight movies –JACKSON RATHBONE 4EVA!). [I forgot how I was once obsessed with Jackson Rathbone despite never seeing a Twilight movie. Maybe that will change and I will post about it. Anyway, I love Charles Dance too but not enough to sit through this. -M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, August 8, 2014

I don’t care if Whoopi Goldberg and Will Arnett are in it this movie still looks terrible. [There is a HUGE TMNT display at my local Barnes & Noble. PJ stared at it for a good minute yesterday. I am pretty sure men over 25 will rush to see this in the theater. -M]

ETA: The director of Dear White People was on Melissa Harris-Perry yesterday, and you can watch the interview here. I can’t wait!
