Smart ladies love movies, this week in trailers, June 16, 2014

Movie Trailer Mondays

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Notable movies coming out this week

Think Like a Man Too

The gang go to Vegas and hilarity ensues. ALSO, “Poison” by Bel Biv DeVoe plays throughout the trailer which is AWESOME! [I know these movies are horribly sexist but they are so fun that I don’t care. BAD FEMINIST. -M]

Lullaby, is out onDemand and for Rent

We talked about this movie back in May but it’s out now for you to watch at home on your couch if you choose to pay $6.99 for the pleasure of watching Garrett Hedlund and his glorious beard. [HE SINGS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!! However, I don’t think I can handle a summer cancer movie (I mean, there’s already The Fault in Our Stars) or J Hud playing a sassy nurse. -M]

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

Birdman, October 17, 2014

I love Michael Keaton (he is from Pittsburgh!). I loved him as Batman. He was phenomenal in Night Shift and Mr. Mom and then he kind of spent 20 years playing dads, so I’m super excited he is making quirky indie movies where he can be both funny and dramatic. ALSO Edward Norton fighting Keaton in his underpants is adorable. [The return of Michael Keaton makes me so happy. I have no idea what this movie is about (surrealism? magic?), but there is no question I will go see it. -M]

Home, March 27, 2015

I think I could listen to Jim Parsons read the phone book and it would make me laugh. Here, he plays an alien named OH who befriends a young woman named Tip voiced by Rhianna and they go on an adventure with her pet cat. [Ummmm I like the cat? -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

The Interview, October 10, 2014

This movie will make me laugh but I won’t pay real money to go see it. [I would absolutely pay money to see this in August, not so sure about October. Lizzie Caplan, YAYAYAY!!! -M]

Paddington, December 12, 2014

This trailer made me laugh more than I want to admit, but that bear better eventually get a little blue wool toggle coat. [Oh European toilets, you are so silly. -M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

Dumb and Dumber To, November 14, 2014

NOPE! NO! NOT GONNA WATCH IT! [Jeff Daniels just won an EMMY for his DRAMATIC WORK. Think about that as you see him try to yank a catheter out of Jim Carrey. -M]

  1. I ADORE MICHAEL KEATON AND EVERYTHING ABOUT HIS BRUCE WAYNE/BATMAN and also MR. MOM and Beetlejuice and yes, EVEN PACIFIC HEIGHTS. What? I was DEVOTED. (thanks for the Night Shift reminder, I need to own that). It made me terribly sad when he stopped doing the things he was good at and “spent 20 years playing dads” (hehe) because he’s much better than that. I have wanted an RDJ-Style Renaissance for him FOR SO LONG. Let’s hope this is it!!! I’ll be the first in line to find out!!! (I also miss Edward Norton when he disappears for several years between films, IT IS A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY)

However, Dumb & SERIOUSLY SO EFFING STUPID will not be getting any of my money.
