Smart ladies love movies, this week in trailers, June 8, 2015

Movie Trailer Monday

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Notable movies coming out this weekend

Jurassic World

I hope this is as good as it looks, I fear it has the potential to really dazzle me or worse disappoint me greatly. I believe in you Chris Pratt. [I’m leaning lukewarm on this now… After some of the other trailers that came out with this week (see below), I am kind of over blockbusters. -M]

Larry Gaye: Renegade Male Flight Attendant Official, is out onDemand and for Rent

Is this a joke? This looks like a BAD SNL skit. Why are all these people in this movie? I hope it’s on Netflix the next time Melissa is in town. [Between this and 50 Shades, Marcia Gay Harden must be super desperate. I think this wants to be Airplane! or Naked Gun but the jokes are so outdated and dumb. YAY IAN GOMEZ. -M]

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

Mistress America, August 14, 2015

I am ridiculously excited for this movie, Frances Ha was one of my favorite movies of 2013. I LOVE Greta Gerwig and Lola Kirke was amazing on Mozart in the Jungle an Amazon show I highly recommend if you have Amazon Prime. [Finally a summer movie this year that is smart and witty. I’m just happy movies like this keep getting made. Long live Greta Gerwig! -M]

Suffragette, October 23, 2015

This trailer is so good and I really LOVE Carey Mulligan. It also made me tear up and really fucking thankful for my ability to vote. [I cried too! It’s a costume drama that stars Meryl Streep AND it’s feminist history!!!!! Why do I have to wait until October?  Stupid prestige Oscar season. -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

American Ultra, August 21, 2015

I’m shocked that this actually makes me kind of NOT hate Kristen Stewart. [I also don’t hate her in this, it is kind of the role she was born to play. And Jesse Eisenberg playing this kind of character will be entertaining. It’s like Chuck as a stoner, with added Connie Britton! -M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

A Walk in the Woods, September 2, 2015

Issue number one, I am not a fan of Nick Nolte. Issue number two, Emma Thompson is way too young to be married to Robert Redford. Issue number three, I can’t help but feel like this is the “meninist” answer to Wild. [Another two-hour REI commercial. At least Nick Offerman and Kristen Schaal have cameos. I do love Bill Bryson but this looks terrible. And “Walk of Life,” really? It’s 2015. -M]
