Smart ladies love movies, this week in trailers, June 9, 2014

Movie Trailer Mondays

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Notable movies coming out this week

22 Jumpstreet

I’m not sure why I’m not as excited for this movie as I was for 21 Jumpstreet but I’m basically going to wait for this to come to Starz and then be on TV every other week for the next 2 years. [I am worried this will not be as funny as the first one, as I have low sequel expectations: see Oceans 12. However, Oceans 13 was hilllarrrriiiious so maybe this will surprise us. -M]

Trust Me, is out onDemand and for Rent

There is not one person in this movie I don’t like, good job casting Clark Gregg! I will also wait and watch this when it’s on Starz. [Is this like the Jerry Maguire of acting? While watching this, people I love kept showing up and I got so excited that I nearly squeed loudly at my desk. -M]

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

Are You Here, August 22, 2014

If I remember correctly this didn’t get great reviews when it was at Sundance but who gives a shit I could watch Amy Poehler read the phone book. The trailer looks like there could be some funny bits and some heartwarming moments. [I love Zach Galifinakis too, The Campaign is totally underrated. I would really enjoy this I think. But having Matthew Weiner’s name on a movie MUST be pretty stressful: will it be as good as Mad Men? -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

The November Man, August 27, 2014

I should rename this section the “Luke Bracey gets movie deals because he was super hot in Monte Carlo,” this is the first of two movies we are featuring with him in them. In this one he and Pierce Brosnan are CIA agents and angry at each other. [Sadly, I don’t think enough people have seen Monte Carlo. This movie looks totally ridiculous and it’s probably sexist as shit but I would enjoy this on Netflix. -M]

The Best of Me, October 17, 2014

This time Mr. Bracey plays a young James Marsden which is weird because James Marsden should be able to play a young James Marsden, anywho all of this is in service to a Nicolas Sparks weepy also starring Bridget Moynahan and some girl who looks like Aimee Teegarden but isn’t. It’s all very confusing. [Katie, would we pay for this, REALLY? We know treacle like this is best when it’s free and followed by something like Rock of Ages. -M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

Left Behind, October 3, 2014

I should also rename this section “the NEW works of Nic Cage,” this movie is about the people who are left behind after the rapture and is based on the super popular book series (it’s also a remake because one of the Christian movie studios already made movies of this book series). [Nic Cage, what are you doing with your life? I would only watch this if someone paid me four figures, minimum, or I was wasted. -M]
