Smart ladies love movies, this week in trailers, October 13, 2014

Movie Trailer Monday

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Notable movies coming out this weekend

Dear White People

We haven’t talked about Dear White People in a while but it comes out this Friday and if I got to decide things it would win ALL THE AWARDS. The trailer for this satire is hilarious and incredibly insightful regarding race in America. ALSO Teyonah Parris from Mad Men and the new Starz show Survivor’s Remorse is TOTALLY going to be a big star. [This is one of my most anticipated movies of the year and it better open in my goddamn city. -M]

You’re Not You, is out onDemand and for Rent

This movie does not look good BUT it does star Josh Duhamel whom we LOVE (Greenlee and Leo 4EVA) BUT it also stars Hilary Swank whom I hate (WHY is she always in tearjerkers) and Emmy Rossum who I am fairly certain Melissa hates. [Yes Emmy Rossum is so annoying, though at least in this, she acts less proper, which is what I hate about her in real life. It looks like Hilary Swank might die in this tearjerker. PASS. -M]

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

Tomorrowland, May 22, 2015

This teaser is perfect it has a brief scene and some narration by George Clooney but I really want to see the movie so it proves that trailers don’t need a whole lot to get people interested. [I haven’t read much about Tomorrowland but this teaser is really intriguing. imdb tells me some of my favorites are in it– JUDY GREER ALERT! Also Kathryn Hahn, Keegan-Michael Key & Hugh Laurie. -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

The Humbling, January 23, 2015

Al Pacino doing All Pacino but this time he is doing it with Greta Gerwig so I will enjoy this when it’s on Netflix with wine. ALSO I still find Pacino hot even though he is so old AND BONUS Charles Grodin. [This looks problematic–an old man is transfixed by a magical younger woman!–but it is based on a Phillip Roth novel so that is to be expected. Good cast, though. I like that Kyra Sedgwick is in more stuff now that The Closer is done. -M]

Home Sweet Hell, TBA 2015

One part of me wants to hate this BUT then another part of me thinks Katherine Heigl might be fun in a satire OR this might be fun for Mel and I to make fun of while drunk. [Katherine Keigl is good in nothing, Katie, don’t forget One for the Money! I have enjoyed Patrick Wilson ever since that episode of Girls when he had a lost weekend with Hannah. -M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

Ouija, October 24, 2014

When I first saw the trailer for this movie I thought it was another Geico commercial making fun of horror movies; but no, it’s real. Teen play on a Ouija board in a house where one of their classmates died –dollars to doughnuts the virgin LIVES! [Just in time for Halloween! This looks fucking awful. -M]
