Movie Trailer Monday

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Notable movies coming out this weekend

Two Night Stand

Miles Teller and Analeigh Tipton star in this movie we have talked about before but it’s out this weekend and looks like fun so here is the trailer again. [Welcome back, Vanessa from Gossip Girl! I don’t think I would pay for this but HBO on a Saturday morning? Perfect! -M]

The Scribbler, is out onDemand and for Rent

At some point Melissa and I became Katie Cassidy fans (was it Monte Carlo?) [For me it was Gossip Girl, playing Juliet, who I think dated Nate. I start that season rewatch next. -M] so this trailer is weird because she is the star of this movie and I didn’t even realize it was her until I read it in the credits. ANYWHO this movie looks pretty terrible so we should just discuss the fact that costar Garret Dillahunt is going to be on this season of Justified which is just the best casting news as he should have been hanging out with Boyd and Raylan all along, RIGHT? [Everything about this trailer screams TV movie so I am pleased it’s onDemand. I hope having Garret Dillhunt on Justified gets him all kinds of new work. He can do comedy, he can do drama. HE IS THE SECOND COMING OF BRYAN CRANSTON. -M]

Also out onDemand and for Rent is Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart

This is an animated concept film from the French band Dionysos that I think animation-hating Melissa would like. It looks beautiful and the music is lovely and a bit twee. [So cute and Tim Burton-ish! -M]

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1, November 21, 2014

Dear Hollywood Harry Potter’s seventh book was over 700 pages it made sense to split it in two movies (though the other large novels in the series did just fine as 1 movie) this book was just over 300 if I remember correctly I think 1 Mockingjay movie would have been fine but regardless I will most likely see this in the theater like I have the last two. ALSO SAVE PEETA!!! [I am so annoyed that I have to see two more movies to complete the trilogy. Hollywood is so money-grubbing. Look, Boyhood was over three hours long, they could have smashed these books into one three-hour movie. -M]

Big Eyes, December 25, 2014

I’m wondering how much I will have to beg my family to make this our Christmas movie. I mean last year it was a Amy Adams Christmas with American Hustle. This looks just as fantastic and I LOVE when Tim Burton does a biopic, Ed Wood is so fucking good. [I am so excited for this, I watched the trailer five times already. Also, KRYSTEN RITTER! My friend Tracy collects Keane paintings and she’s worried they will soon be really hard to come by, which is an interesting insight. -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

Serena, TBA 2014

Another drama starring JLaw and Bradley Cooper this one is directed by a woman. I’m not 100% sold on it as I don’t really like Bradley Cooper post Hangover movies but it might be good (I did enjoy Silver Linings Playbook recently but I am still not sold). [Support female-diretecd movies!!!!!!!!!! I love a period piece so I will probably see this but J Law still looks too young to play in this. -M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

The Boy Next Door, January 23, 2015

JLo you are better than this. Also your hair is so pretty and I love the lip gloss. [But Katie, I don’t really think JLo is better than this, since she was in Monster in Law and Maid in Manhattan. People love these sexual thrillers so it will make a billion dollars and we can rejoice because we will be able to see JLo every week on American Idol. -M]
