Movie Trailer Mondays

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Notable movies coming out this week

Delivery Man

The big movie opening next weekend is The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which we covered a few weeks back but if Delivery Man gets good enough reviews my love for Vince Vaughn and Cobie Smulders may make me consider paying the big bucks to go see it in the theaters. [Of course all his children but one are hot and thin. ARGHHHHHHHHH. I am extra cranky this morning! -M]

Sunlight Jr. is out onDemand and for Rent

This movie looks terribly depressing so if you’re looking for a good cry here are Naomi Watts and Matt Dillon to help you in the comfort of your own home. [I’m actually not looking for a good cry since I cry at everything these days, but thanks. -M]

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

Divergent, March 21, 2014

Oh, YAY another YA book series for me to read! Shailene Woodley looks kind of bad ass and this Theo James kid is kind of hot (he’s 29 so not an actual kid and he is British so –DOUBLE WIN). [That dude is hot! I am getting tired of YA books turned into movies, I blame Harry Potter. I don’t think I even have it in me to watch this on cable. -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

Labor Day, December 25, 2013

YAY another depressing movie –just what the holidays needed! This movie stars Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin (who are the upscale version of Naomi Watts and Matt Dillon). It also is narrated by Toby Maguire and was directed by Juno helmer Jason Reitman. It looks like a grittier Nicholas Sparks movie. [I ADORE Jason Reitman, and why didn’t he get with Josh Brolin sooner? I know this is based on a book but that is a really shitty title. -M]

RoboCop, February 12, 2014

I’m not sure my love for Joel Kinnaman can convince me to go see this movie in a theater–Samuel L. Jackson’s wig is a definite highlight of the trailer. I am also hopeful that Michael Keaton is on the verge of a comeback. MORE KEATON IN 2014! [There are two AMAZING women in this movie, Jennifer Ehle and Marianne Jean-Baptiste–I hate Abbie Cornish–and I don’t think either of them are in the trailer. Do they have speaking parts? I understand a lot of this is probably marketing but men will see an action movie with women who speak in it, Hollywood. You are a bag of dicks. -M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

Noah, March 28, 2014

Darren Aronofsky directed the only movie that has ever come close to making me vomit, Requiem for a Dream, so I have a tendency to avoid his movies, Black Swan looked both potentially gross and boring. Noah looks boring except for Russell Crow’s AMAZING wig! [I feel like I might have to see this because Aronofsky is my husband’s favorite director but this would make me fall asleep. I dislike Jennifer Connolly for reasons I can’t explain, none of which are The Rocketeer. -M]

Maleficent, May 30, 2014

I love the Disney classic Sleeping Beauty and this looks like a live action version of a movie that did not need one which makes me PEEVED, PEEVED I TELLS YA! [The art direction looks nice. I wish this was made twenty years ago so it could star Glenn Close instead of Angelina Jolie. YAWN. -M]

  1. Labor Day was actually a pretty good book and I trust Kate Winslet, so I’m curious about that one, but I agree on waiting for Netflix/Amazon.
