Smart ladies love trailers, the week in trailers, October 7, 2013

Movie Trailer Mondays

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Notable movies coming out this week

Romeo and Juliet

Did this really need to be remade? Is that Stellan Skarsgård narrating the trailer? Damien Lewis and Paul Giamatti! Chuck Bass perfectly cast as Tybalt!?! Greatest love story ever, well that is blatantly debatable — hello Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward. [There is no reason this needs to exist. Why did Julian Fellowes do this? Was he bored? Because I have a lot of ideas for classics he could adapt instead like Agnes Grey. -M]

C.O.G. and Mr. Nobody is out onDemand and for Rent

The David Sedaris movie C.O.G. which we covered in August is onDemand and for rent, also out is Mr. Nobody starring Jared Leto in a trippy movie from Canada about a boy who lives many lives, one in which he goes to live with his father and one in which he goes to live with his mother, Diane Kruger and Sarah Polly also star. [No thank you, Mr. Nobody! {shudder!} -M]

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, December 13, 2013

ORLANDO BLUM and EVANGELINE LILLY are K-I-S-S-I-N-G (so no they aren’t actually kissing but something does look like it’s going on but since it’s Tolkien it’s longing looks and chaste talky talk about honor)! Any who Peter Jackson is bringing another installment of The Hobbit this one still has hot dwarves, British hottie Luke Evans, and finally we hear Benedict Cumberbatch voicing a DRAGON! FUN! [This reminds me that I never saw The Hobbit! Crap. Unlike Katie, I LURVE Evangeline Lilly so seeing her being a badass with a bow makes me want to see this. -M]

Philomena, November 27, 2013

If this movie had other actors in it, it would be terrible, but Judi Dench and Steve Coogan make this look positively delightful even though it’s a story of the Catholic church stealing a child from a young single mother. [Steve Coogan should be like, post-hooker Hugh Grant famous in America. I don’t think this will help but it might be something I can take my mom to see. -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

I Frankenstein, January 24, 2014

Aaron Eckhart what on earth is going on with your career? This actually looks kind of fun but rent on Amazon fun not pay 12 bucks fun. [Again, why did this movie get made? I think it’s weird to see that drawing of Frankenstein’s monster and it looks exactly like Aaron Eckhart. I’ll bet they time traveled and saw Thank You for Smoking. -M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

Banshee Chapter, January 10, 2013

Why is Michael McMillian in this crap? That kid needs to be on a sitcom stat and to stop being in terrible shit like True Blood (I love you but you know you’re bad) and this. What is this? Horror Film? Government conspiracy thriller? Anti-drug film? All of the above! [I just checked him out on imdb and he’s been in A LOT of crap. I can’t think of something for him on current television shows but perhaps we can work him into Edith in the City as her American BFF? -M]

Bonus dancing McMillian…

Steve Newlin dancing

Always hilarious!
