Movie Trailer Mondays

Frozen

Kristen Bell is feisty even in animated form.

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Notable movies coming out this week

Gravity

The word from TIFF was that this movie looks amazing but it also looks like it would freak me the fuck out. This trailer in particular makes me kind of have a panic attack. [I can’t decide which is scarier–the vast nothingness of space or the dark depths of the ocean. Either way I don’t think I will see Gravity. -M]

All is Bright, in theaters Friday but is currently onDemand and available to rent through Amazon and iTunes

In an effort to try to focus on small films as well as the big films coming out each week I’m going to try to let you guys know when things we were excited about are available for rent while or before they hit theaters. We featured the movie All is Bright, in our September 9th post. It is the follow-up feature for Junebug director Phil Morrison and stars Paul Giamatti and Paul Rudd as Canadians selling Christmas trees in NYC. We have it on good authority that this will be an excellent movie to rent around the holidays.

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

A Case of You, November 6, 2013

Justin Long co-wrote this romantic comedy which looks kind of silly but I really like Long so I have faith that this is just a BAD trailer edit. It also has Busy Phillips and Peter Dinklage so WIN. [Hey I love the Joni Mitchell song “Case of You”! This does seem a bit silly but whatever Peter Dinklage is doing in the trailer makes it a must-see for me. -M]

Frozen, November 27, 2013

It’s an animated film with Kristen Bell and it is made by the people who worked on Tangled –which was AMAZING. It also has Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad, and Idina Menzel. WINNER! [Have fun at your cartoon, Katie. -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

Need for Speed, March 14, 2014

I’m not sure what to make of this trailer, the voice over is HILARIOUS but that might kind of be the point or it’s serious then it’s even more hilarious either way Aaron Paul stars as an ex-con driver in an illegal race across the country. FUN?!? [I will pay for this in an attempt to support Aaron Paul’s post-Breaking Bad career. When this trailer came on in last night’s finale, I laughed hysterically. Maybe because I was nervous about Jesse’s fate. -M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

Machete Kills, October 11, 2013

I can never decide if Robert Rodriguez is empowering, exploitative OR more likely BOTH. I didn’t see the first Machete film so I will most likely not be seeing this or is this the first Machete film? [Charlie Sheen is the least believable president ever put to film. -M]
