Movie Trailer Mondays

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Notable movies coming out this week

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

I’m super excited that the new Hobbit movie is here but sad that I won’t get to see it until my brother gets here after Christmas, I will just have to placate myself with the extended edition DVD and occasional viewings on HBO. [I like these movies more on TV. I know that is backwards but it helps me focus on the story instead of the scenery. -M]

White Reindeer is out onDemand and for Rent

This is an anti-Christmas Christmas movie and was filmed near my house. It actually freaked me out at first because I didn’t know what it was and I had to rewind the trailer several times because I recognized the locations. [AND they didn’t film it in Charlotte, pretending to be the DC suburbs, HOMELAND. This looks like something I would enjoy! -M]

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

Her, December 18, 2013

The more I watch trailers for this movie the less creepy Joaquin Phoenix gets also I don’t seem to hate ScarJo if I don’t have to see her blank face. [I am sad ScarJo can’t get nominated for an Oscar, I still feel there should be a special performance category. -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

In Secret, February 21, 2014

One of last weeks HDOTW Oscar Isaac is in the romance thriller with Elisabeth Olsen, Jessica Lange and the dude who played Draco Malfoy. The only reason this is in this section and not the “you would have to pay me” section is because of Isaac. [I don’t get Elisabeth Olsen, AND I strongly dislike trailers that show you everything! GRRR! -M]

The Amazing Spider-Man 2, May 2, 2014

I’m still unsure why they needed to remake Spider-Man so soon after the Toby Maguire/Kirsten Dunst movies but I guess this is cool. I find Andrew Garfield likable but not very attractive but he is adorable with Emma Stone. [Sadly I am not feeling very snarky today–I am recovering from a very bad hangover, thanks to book club–but I really want one of those fancy digital tables. I don’t know why these movies exist. Aren’t we tired of Spiderman yet? -M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

Pompeii, February 21, 2014

Jon Snow is a slave and he and his fellow slave/BFF try and save their ladies as the volcano erupts –FUN!!! [I don’t even need to watch the trailer to know I would hate this film. -M]

300: Rise of an Empire, March 7, 2014

Cersei Lannister avenges the death of her husband Gerard Butler with the help of the dude from Cinemax’s Strike Force. –DOUBLE FUN!!! [I hate these movies for bringing Gerard Butler into our world. He has been in some really shitty romcoms, several of the worst I have ever seen. -M]
