Movie Trailer Mondays
Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!
Notable movies coming out this week
Emma Watson introduces this trailer for Noah quite adorably, the trailer itself is chaotic and I do not enjoy Russell Crowe’s long hair. I also am not going to see this unless someone pays me. [I’m surprised my husband has not been talking about this Darren Aronofsky film nonstop. I like Russell’s beard. There is not enough money in the world to make me watch this. -M]
A Birder’s Guide to Everything, is out onDemand and for Rent
I really enjoyed the birding film The Big Year which only has a 40% on Rotten Tomatoes –WHICH IS INSANE! The trailer for this film has a similar vibe of humor, heart and misfit daffiness (all of which I personally love in film). [JAMES LEGROS! Remember when he was in every good indie movie in the 90s? He was in my town recently filming Turn, which I can’t wait to see. Anyway I love movies about teenage weirdos and this looks super cute. -M]
Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater
The Wedding Video, May 9, 2014
I LOVE Lucy Punch! I MISS Ben & Kate (PLEASE WATCH ENLISTED AMERICA)! This movie looks like it will be stupid fun. [Ahhh this looks hilarious. I will note that I hate the titles (“A Discreet Vicar”), they are cheesy. -M]
I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon
The Giver, August 15, 2014
When I was in college I took a Children’s Literature course and the teacher LOVED talking about The Giver by Lois Lowry to the point where though I have never read it I feel like I have read it. Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep give the trailer the gravitas that the book deserves but I feel jilted from the lack of Alexander Skarsgard. [I read this book, but don’t remember it at all and the trailer is not jogging my memory. Weird. Welcome back to the big screen, Katie Holmes!! Taylor Swift is in this too and on imdb she’s billed above Meryl Streep, which I hope is a mistake. -M]
You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater
Peanuts, November 6, 2015
Between this and the announcement of the Jem and the Holograms movie, Hollywood has definitely decided to ruin my childhood favorites. Thank god the Annie remake looks AMAZING! [Totally assy. I will never watch this, even if I have kids. They can watch the old cartoons. And Bob’s Burgers. -M]
