Smart ladies love movies, this week in trailers, January 26, 2015

Movie Trailer Monday

These two are so cute.

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Notable movies coming out this weekend

Wild Card

Welcome folks to January where all the movies are terrible, which makes picking the Notable movie of the week really fucking hard. This week some of my choices were Black & White (which I have no words), The Devil’s Violinist (which sadly is not as funny as I wanted it to be; in fact, it’s not funny at all), and Wild Card with Jason Statham (Statham ALWAYS WINS!). We featured the US trailer a while ago so behold the international trailer. [Good thing TV this time of year is amazing, because the movie selection is fucking depressing. -M]

Backstreet Boys: Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of, is out onDemand and for Rent on Jauary 30th

Brooke got tickets to see this Thursday night she is SUPER excited! [I wish I could see this with Brooke, then I would know true joy. -M]

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, March 6, 2015

I originally didn’t love the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and then it was on HBO and I watched it about 50+ times and it grew on me. The sequel looks cute and Dev Patel and Maggie Smith as partners looks very funny. ALSO Richard Gere is now certifiably OLD –HILARIOUS. [Whenever we see this trailer, I crack up at how all the old ladies swoon over Richard Gere. I feel like he was JUST romancing Julia Roberts. -M]

Avengers: Age of Ultron, May 1, 2015

James Spader is the best even if he is playing a demented artificial intelligence. ALSO this movie looks totes depressing. [Do you think Chris Evans ever gets tired of being so awesome? I wish this trailer was more joyous and less scary/sad. I am losing interest in the Avengers. -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

She’s Funny That Way, April 10, 2015

What the fuck is up with Imogene Poots’ accent. ALSO Peter Bogdanovich made his first movie since 2001’s The Cat’s Meow (which I always enjoyed). Owen Wilson, Kathryn Hahn, and Jennifer Aniston make this look almost good –but again, that accent. [Oh I liked that movie too! RIP Richard Gilmore. Also Will Forte!! I hope at the end we learn that Imogen Poots’ character is actually British because that is the only thing to explain that terrible, put on accent. -M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

Kidnapping Mr. Heineken, March 6, 2015

Ryan Kwanten, I was hoping you would spend your post True Blood career in quirky indie romantic comedies I enjoy watching late on weekends not in this shit. ALSO Anthony Hopkins I hope you get paid well for being in this crap. My last thought is that this is EXACTLY the type of movie I see Sam Worthington and Tom Sturridge Jim Sturgess (whom I always confuse with the dude who knocked up Sienna Miller) in. [I always wonder if Katie will be able to find a terrible trailer for a movie that is not a horror film and she always surprises me with crap like this. It’s trying so hard to be a prestige movie but it fails on all levels, most obviously with the D-list cast. These kinds of movies are always the saddest, because imagine if this was a Coen brothers production (maybe around the time of Burn After Reading)–it might be kind of entertaining! -M]
