Smart ladies love movies, this week in trailers, November 23, 2015

Movie Trailer Monday

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Notable movies coming out this weekend

I’m going to see this on Thanksgiving and I could not be more excited. I LOVED Rocky (full disclosure I just watched it for the first time a month ago). I also am a HUGE Michael B. Jordan fan and want this to be HUGE so that he get’s cast in everything. AND lastly this trailer is BOMB! [I think I am going to see Trumbo because it looks fun. I will note that I just heard MBJ is getting Oscar talk for this movie. I am thankful for any movie that brings MBJ and Tessa Thompson to the red carpet. -M]

Man Up, is out onDemand and for Rent

Lake Bell is so cute with a British accent. I also spotted Sharon Horgan briefly in the below trailer which makes me want to tell you to go watch Catastrophe because it’s AMAZING! [Simon Pegg foreverrrrrrrrrr! This looks adorable. Now I want to rewatch Catastrophe AND Spaced this holiday season. -M]

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

How to Be Single, February 12, 2016

I adore Jake Lacey and will watch him in anything. I wish that Damon Wayans Jr. would have been given an actual line in the trailer and also that he would become a giant star. I will say I laughed a lot at the end of this trailer, Rebel Wilson is a gem. [Dakota Johnson’s hair is adorable. This looks really funny and I will totally see it but aren’t we tired of stories about women finding love in the big city? Sigh. -M]

The Huntsman Winter’s War, April 22, 2016

This movie looks awesome. Like the original the costumes, art direction, and CGI all look fantastic. ALSO I liked that three of the four leads are women. NOW if only one of them could be a person of color this movie would be a complete win. [While the makeup and costumes look wonderful, I don’t particularly care for modern retellings of fairy tales. I was thinking I would like this if it was a TV show but I don’t watch Grimm or Once Upon a Time so that doesn’t hold up. -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

Extraction, December 18, 2015

This reminds me of the Henry Cavill/Bruce Willis CIA movie from a couple of years ago. Henry Cavill is a WAY better actor than Kellan Lutz who plays Willis’ son here –let’s face it Henry Cavill is always the best choice. Regardless of Lutz I will most likely enjoy this at 2 in the morning when there is nothing else on the TV. [Kellan Lutz is a cold, dead fish, and I am surprised he’s getting work. I will not pay for this but I will watch it with Katie when it comes to one of the 70 movie channels she has. -M]

Zoolander 2, February 12, 2016

I love watching Zoolander on TV hence why this isn’t in the “theater” section. [I will watch this in the theater. I will watch this in my house. I will watch this with a mouse. Random notes: Glad that Will Ferrell has returned! Benedict Cumberbatch looks scary without eyebrows. I hope there are tons of crazy cameos. Kyle Mooney, one of the funniest people on the current SNL season, has an actual speaking role (he’s not in the imdb listing). Can’t wait!!!! -M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

Gods of Egypt, February 26, 2016

I don’t understand why Hollywood insists there was this many white people in ancient Egypt. The CGI also looks like shit. [Like, there are not this many white people in Richmond. Gerard Butler is my cue to avoid this piece of crap. Also, that kid with the shitty blond wig. And Jaime Lannister has a magical eye? This might be my least favorite movie since I, Frankenstein. -M]
