Movie Trailer Monday

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Notable movies coming out this weekend

By the Sea

I really wanted to like this because I kind of dig Brad and Angie and it looks gorgeous but I kind of hate “fucked-up-marriage-movies.” I will probably watch portions of this when it comes to pay cable. [Every time I watch a “fucked up marriage movie” I regret it because it makes me really depressed. I also only like Brad Pitt in comedies. -M]

A Ballerina’s Tale, is out onDemand and for Rent

I love Misty Copeland, ballet, AND DANCE DOCUMENTARIES! I can see the $6.99 flying out of my bank account for this winner. [I am too cheap to rent this, but I am wondering if I can somehow set up an alert when it’s streaming on one of the 9 services I pay for?]

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

Don Verdean, December 11, 2015

I usually hate this type of comedy but I love Sam Rockwell, Danny McBride, and Jemaine Clement and this trailer genuinely made me laugh multiple times –WIN! [I secretly loved Nacho Libre. Without question, my husband and I will see this in the theater during the holiday season, probably instead of a prestige movie. We are classy like that. -M]

Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, December 18, 2015

My Star Wars excitement is through the roof! Anyway both the Japanese trailer and new TV spot are below and they have NEW FOOTAGE. [The thirty second trailer contains way more Oscar Isaac than the two minute one, so that is the one I recommend viewing. -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

Hello, My Name Is Doris, March 11, 2016

I have watched this trailer three times because I keep thinking it will be awkward, but it actually just looks sweet. Also Tyne Daly and Sally Field should have a TV show maybe the two of them are swindled and have to start a business. Max Greenfield is in this too, and he is adorable. [Directed by Michael Showalter from The State! Sally Field’s clothes are freaking adorable. Great cast and it does not look cringe-y. Hurrah! -M]

Warcraft, June 10, 2016

RAGNAR VERSUS ORCS! I don’t know what I would do if I saw Travis Fimmel without facial hair, probably burst into tears. This would probably be in “must watch” except that I’m only interested in this because of Travis Fimmel so I’ll wait till it’s available to rent. [I’m glad to see Travis Fimmel is getting work, but there is 0% chance that I will see this. -M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

Dirty Grandpa, January 22, 2016

No amount of Aubrey Plaza can get me to watch this movie for money. It lost me when Robert DeNiro called the pink Mini Cooper a labia. [I would rather see this than Warcraft, but the only non-terrible movie Zac Efron has done since High School Musical is Neighbors. I think that one where he was a DJ who wore headphones all the time bombed. -M]
