So Melissa is usually the one who writes about thrifting because she does it so well but recently in Portland Oregon I discovered the mother-load of mid century modern furniture AND creepy dolls! I will also talk about doughnuts — who doesn’t love doughnuts?
Antique mall…I love that they had taken the innards out of an old timey TV and put in an flatscreen in which they played I love Lucy!
Fun fact: there are tons of really old and perfectly seasoned cast iron skillets in Portland — smooth not rough. Unfortunately I did not have the space in my luggage to purchase one. I keep looking for them around here but I have yet to fined a really good one.
This couch was $299 and it didn’t even need to be recovered. [I want this so badly, Katie texted it to me and I swooned. -M]
So much furniture that was really affordable.
I want that record cabinet…
We then went to this small vintage shop full to the brim of 12 inch dolls and BRASS BIRDS…Everything there was pricey but it was so so many photo opportunities.
BRASS BIRDS!!! Oh if I had $175 to buy brass birds these would have been mine and Melissa’s. They would have been “best friends forever” brass birds…TO DREAM!!!
Both of the paintings in this photo are amazing one is really nice and the other is one of a boy with a tear…LOVE! [I want a toggle coat, dammit! -M]
And then there were dolls…
It’s Michael Jackson and Cher!
Jamie Sommers and Steve Austin just hanging out.
Joey from NKOTB!
Mattel’s answer to Rio from Jem…sadly I did not have to look that up! [I love that you know this! -M]
This ones face is melting off…
So creepy and her boobs are huge…
There were also some nice things in all the junk.
Sarah found this awesome suffragette tea towel/tapestry?
This lovely red radio…
This is a clock that is a boat and I want it!
THE VISIBLE MAN!!!
Then there were DOUGHNUTS…glorious doughnuts at Voodoo Doughnuts. Fun Fact: they sold underpants!
My brother very excited about his doughnuts!
Why yes that is a maple bacon bar and it was GLORIOUS!!!
When I got back to Virginia, Melissa took me out and we found this…god bless America!
