Comedy

Brooklyn Nine-Nine, September 17, 2013

I have watched the trailer for this fifteen times and it still makes me laugh. Co-created by Mike Schur, this is guaranteed to be the only new network comedy that remains on my DVR, unless Fox cancels it, which it better not think about (RIP BEN & KATE). Plus CHELSEA PERETTI. I have a feeling she is going to be the hero of this show. -M

I too have watched the trailer fifteen times! I am ridiculously happy that Andre Braugher is in a comedy. He is a marvelous actor and this show better be a fucking hit. It better NOT get cancelled like Ben & Kate (so many FEELS). -K

The Crazy Ones, September 26, 2013

The trailer for this one kind of looks weird and kind of like it’s trying to hard BUT I heart Sarah Michelle Geller and Josh Wolk (BOB BENSON!) so I am at least gonna give it a try. -K

You’re right, this show is DEFINITELY trying too hard but it’s stylized and fun, and not only does it star Buffy and Bob Benson but Hamish Linklater, who I heart very much from his time in The New Adventures of Old Christine (apparently he was in The Newsroom this season too but I pretend that show doesn’t exist). -M

Enlisted, November 8, 2013

This show looks dumb but I can’t help it I have watched it’s trailer also 15 times and it never fails to make me laugh. I also love everyone in this show. -K

I love this preview; it  seems similar in tone (read: silly) to Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and I really respond to humor like this. As should all of America. America needs a show like this right now. We need Enlisted. -M

Hello Ladies, September 29, 2013

Maybe I watch The Newsroom so that I can watch the trailer for Hello Ladies, does that make sense? This show looks great, I hope I remember to watch it unlike Family Tree which I forgot about even though it was lovely and brilliant. -K

The title made me think this would be some kind of sexist, Jerry O’Connell-esque ( he is THE DEVIL) male sex-romp, but it’s clearly not like that at all. I know I will forget to watch this, especially since it’s on after my bedtime. -M

Drama

Almost Human, November 4, 2013

Karl Urban and Michael Ealy on the same show, man this might just be the hottest show on TV. It is being produced by JJ Abrams and also stars SLLS fave Lily Taylor and Friday Night Lights alum Minka Kelly. I’m trying not to have HIGH HOPES as it will probably be low rated and cancelled at the end of its 13 episode run. -K

SCI FI AWWW YEAHHHHHH. I’m scared to watch this because I will fall in love with it and Fox will cancel it like Alcatraz and I will have these 13 episodes on my DVR for a year because I won’t be able to bring myself to watch them. I am really upset already. -M

The Blacklist, September 23, 2013

This looks pretty bad but I’ll give anything with Spader at least a one episode try. -K

I’ll bet this will be on for ten seasons while Almost Human lasts less than one. Sorry, I’m just cranky, you know I love the Spader. -M

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., September 24, 2013

I am trying very hard not to be TOO excited about this show, I love Clark Gregg and Ming Na so I am excited to see them on TV but I’m worried this will just be a sad reminder that we have to wait for the next Avengers movie. It’s Joss Wedon so at least it will be clever. -K

I just want to point out that this is our SECOND show starring a New Adventures of Old Christine alum–Clark Gregg. I feel like ABC is so invested in keeping Marvel amongst their holdings that this is going to be a) amazing and b) on TV for years. Double yay! -M

Masters of Sex, September 29, 2013

Lizzy Caplin, who has a sad habit of picking shows that are too good for the general public and are therefore cancelled, might have found herself a winner –FINALLY– with this Showtime show about sex researchers in the fifties. I also really appreciate Michael Sheen even when he is in crap like the Underworld movies.  He would have been brilliant on True Blood as a big bad (all of the things True Blood could have done to have been wonderful). Anyway this show looks like it will be a ton of cheeky fun –YAY! -K

By shows that are too good for the general public, do you mean THE CLASS, Katie? I’m really glad this is on premium cable so they can show all the stuff even FX can’t show. I love that this appears to be a funny drama–it doesn’t skew either too silly or serious. Michael Sheen is always going to be Wesley Snipes to me, though. -M

Sleepy Hollow, September 16, 2013

How sad is it that I am actually more excited about a show that looks like it could either be brilliant or terrible, than I am about S.H.I.E.L.D., it’s very sad. This looks like it could be campy and fun scary. If it wasn’t on at the same time as Beauty and the Beast I would recap it. -K

If I didn’t have class on Mondays I would totally recap this. I definitely think it’s going to lean towards shitty/guilty pleasure. Orlando Jones! Jokes about an anachronistic character! JOHN FUCKING CHO! Why are Fox’s shows more watchable than everyone else’s this year? What is going on? -M
