Smart ladies love movies, this week in trailers, October 5, 2015

Movie Trailer Monday

Each week I review movie trailers that came out the previous week or for movies that are about to premiere. Some of these movies I am excited about, some I am mildly curious about, and the rest I make fun of!

Notable movies coming out this weekend

Big Stone Gap

This movie is either TERRIBLE or the kind of wacky small town movie I love –based on cast I’m hoping it’s the latter. [It’s based on a (probably not amazing) book, takes place in my beautiful home state of Virginia and Patrick Wilson wears one piece thermal underwear. I’M IN. -M]

Addicted To Fresno, is out onDemand and for Rent

This looks AMAZING! We love everyone in this AND bonus it’s directed by a lady! [So many awesome ladies in one place!!!! Even the dudes are my favorites. And is that Bleached in the trailer? -M]

Movies I can’t wait to see in an ACTUAL theater

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, November 20, 2015

After November we will not have Peeta to kick around anymore and that makes me so sad. [I just want Josh Hutcherson to host SNL again. This trailer is hella corny and sadly Peeta-lite. Seeing you-know-who in the trailer totally makes me cry. I can’t even type his name. -M]

The 5th Wave, January 15, 2016

Out with the old YA female fronted movie franchise, in with the NEW (ALSO we have the other YA female series but that one is kind of boring). I actually have no idea if this is a franchise, all I know is that it stars Chloe Grace Moretz (who I only sometimes appreciate, mainly just 30 Rock) and is in a post apocalyptic setting (aren’t they all).  I would love to put this in the worst category but I think we ALL know I’m totally going to see this quite possibly in the theater. It also from this trailer looks like there might be a love triangle. [There is no way I will see this but note that this is the second movie we are featuring today that stars Ron Livingston. This reminds me a little bit of Pacific Rim but without a shirtless Charlie Hunnam so NO THANKS.  -M]

I won’t go to an ACTUAL theater but will pay for it on Amazon

Burnt, October 23, 2015

This trailer feels like the CliffsNotes version of the movie –I could have done without the smug kid. It still looks like something I will enjoy on HBO. [I would totally see this in the theater, preferably on one of those nights when movies are $6. While I have learned to appreciate her clothes, I still don’t like Sienna Miller’s acting. It’s funny, for a picky eater, I sure love to watch things about food. It’s like being obsessed with running when you have a broken leg. -M]

The Divergent Series: Allegiant, March 18, 2016

This is a first film based on the final book in this series, the second will be titled The Divergent Series: Ascendant which just makes me hate everything about the film industry –these books are like 300 pages they will fit in one movie. I have seen every movie in this series and despite good actors, they are kind of boring. [I have no patience for these movies, I feel like they were only filmed to make money, there’s no passion or interest in them, unlike The Hunger Games. -M]

You would have to PAY me to see it in an ACTUAL theater

The Choice, February 5, 2016

Nicholas Sparks movies are my crack AND like crack, they are not very good for you. Both Teresa Palmer and Benjamin Walker are so bland they make Shannon from Lost seem like a pip. [Until the last twenty seconds of this trailer, I was like, “So, who gets cancer? Did someone die in 9/11? Does someone befriend a ghost? I can’t tell!!!” And then BOOM, car accident! But, Katie, we will totally see this when it’s free on demand. -M]
